The City of Ankeny owns a small remnant parcel of property located in the southwest quadrant of the intersection of SW Ordnance Road and SW Des Moines Street which is legally described as:
OUTLOT Z – JOHN DEERE PLACE PLAT 5
The said property is too small to be developed, has limited access, is encumbered by utility easements, and is currently maintained by the City of Ankeny. William Doyle owns and operates Aim High Auto Repair at 1001 SW Ordnance Road, which is located adjacent and directly west of the said property. Mr. Doyle recently presented a Purchase Agreement to the City of Ankeny for the intent of acquiring the said property for the purpose of a future expansion of his commercial business.
Staff has reviewed this request, and has set a fair market value of the property at $700.00. Mr. Doyle is agreeable with this valuation and is willing to pay all costs of closing the transaction. The City has been mowing this parcel and it is of little to no value as a municipal facility. Staff recommends that the parcel be conveyed to Mr. Doyle.
Approval of this resolution will facilitate a public hearing on the proposed property transfer, which would be held on December 2, 2019.
