The action before the Council is the adoption of a Resolution regarding the SE 8th Street Reconstruction - Phase 1 project which involves ordering construction, setting a public hearing date on the Contract Documents (plans, specifications, form of contract), and estimated total cost; and setting a date for the filing of bids on the project.
The SE 8th Street Reconstruction – Phase 1 project includes the removal and replacement of PCC street pavement, water main, and storm sewer generally located on SE 8th Street from SE Oak Drive to SE Sharon Drive in the City of Ankeny.
The improvements include construction of approximately 2,560 SY of 8-inch PCC pavement, approximately 190 SY of 6-inch PCC driveway, approximately 530 SY of PCC sidewalk, RCP storm sewer between 15-inch diameter and 24-inch diameter, storm sewer structures, removal of existing storm sewer and water main, approximately 760 LF of 8-inch water main, water main valves and hydrants, subgrade preparation, modified subbase, subdrain, pavement removal, traffic control, temporary sidewalks, erosion control, excavation, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project.
The project is being presented for bidding at this time. Pending project approval and award by the City Council, the contractor will be required to start the project no earlier than June 1, 2020 and no later than June 22, 2020. They will have 60 working days to substantially complete the overall project. Council approval at this time will set the following schedule for the proceedings:
1. Set Date of Bid Opening and Public Hearing: January 20, 2020
2. Post Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public Hearing: January 24, 2020
3. Publish Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public of Hearing: January 31, 2020
4. Bid Opening (10:30 A.M., Public Services Building): February 11, 2020
5. Public Hearing and Award Contract: February 17, 2020
