Motion
LEGAL:
No Review Required
SUBJECT:
Consider motion to approve Amendment No. 1 to the Professional Services Agreement increasing the contract amount by $24,000.00 with Shive Hattery Architecture for the design and administration services to relocate the Fire Station No. 1 geothermal field on the Ankeny Senior Community Center project.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Amendment #1 covers additional services to the Shive Hattery architectural services needed to design and construct the Ankeny Senior Community Center.  This amendment expands the scope for two additions to the project:  1) The building footprint has been found to conflict with a deep sanitary sewer that would be very costly to relocate.  This relocation would also require the removal and replacement of the Fire Station No. 1 rear parking lot.  Shive proposes a redesign of the building footprint, moving a portion of the building so that the sewer could be left undisturbed.  The work needed to redesign the building plans encompasses $5,000 of the amendment amount.  2)  The balance of the amendment is for the design and construction services needed to relocate a portion of the geothermal field for Fire Station No. 1.  The conflict with these underground lines is unavoidable and complicated.  Pending council approval, the geotechnical relocation work will be designed and bid separately, ahead of the overall building project.
FISCAL IMPACT: No
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:

It is recommended that Amendment No. 1 be approved at this time.
