The action before the Council is the adoption of a Resolution accepting a proposal from Edge Commercial in the amount of $ 98,390.00 for the Ankeny Art Center - Drainage Repairs Project.
The Ankeny Art Center - Drainage Repairs project includes interior and exterior improvements to separate the sanitary and storm systems as well as address basement flooding issues. Interior improvements include demolition of existing facilities, interior under-slab drainage pipes, cleanouts, risers, sump pit rebuilding with new sewage injector pumps, new clay trap systems, and associated improvements. Exterior improvements include installation of new outlet drain lines installed by trenchless and/or open trenching with cleanouts and associated improvements including minor pavement removal and replacement and surface restoration.
Plans were prepared by RMH Architects and an informal bid was held for the project on April 28, 2020. Four bids were received as follows:
- Edge Commercial = $98,390.00
- Woodruff Construction = $105,300.00
- HPC Construction = $118,000.00
- Bergstrom Construction = $133,409.00
The engineer's estimate for the project was $120,000.00. Edge Commercial has completed similar projects. They previously completed the City Welcome Signs project for the city and are currently working on the PSB Library Remodel project. It is recommended that the project be awarded to Edge Commercial at this time. Pending Council approval, the project will need to be completed by June 12, 2020. |
