SUBJECT:

Tradition Park Stormwater Detention Basin Flood Repair: Consider motion to approve: a) Final Change Order #1 decreasing the contract amount by $44,521.75; b) Certificate of Completion; c) RESOLUTION accepting the public improvement with  Jensen Construction Company, in the amount of $390,219.75; and d) Final Payment #1 in the amount of $5,860.45; and Retainage Payment in the amount of $19,510.99.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The actions before the council are the approval of the final Change Order, the acceptance of the Certificate of Completion, passage of a Resolution accepting the public improvements, approval of the final and retainage payments to Jensen Construction Company on the Tradition Park Stormwater Detention Basin Flood Repair project.  

 

The  Tradition Park Stormwater Detention Basin Flood Repair project is now complete.  A series of actions are needed in order to close out this construction project: 

a) Approval of the Final Change Order #1 decreasing the contract amount by $44,521.75.

b) Engineer's Certificate of Completion: The attached Certificate of Completion from the project engineer states that the work performed was in substantial conformance with the plans and specifications.

c) Resolution accepting the Public Improvements:  This Resolution approves and adopts the Engineer's Certificate of Completion on the Tradition Park Stormwater Detention Basin Flood Repair project and establishes the final contract amount to be $390,219.75.

d) Final Payment: Jensen Construction Company = $5,860.45

    Retainage Payment:  Halbrook Excavating = $19,510.99

 

It is recommended that the retainage payment be approved for payment 31 days from the date of acceptance of the project, in accordance with the terms of the contract.

 
 
FISCAL IMPACT: Yes
The above payments will facilitate the final completion of this project, which was funded through the Capital Improvements Program.
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:

It is recommended that the council take the following actions: 

 

1. Approve Final Change Order #1 decreasing the contract amount by $44,521.75.

 

2. Accept the Engineer's Certificate of Completion from the Tradition Park Stormwater Detention Basin Flood Repair. 

 

3. Adopt the Resolution accepting the Tradition Park Stormwater Detention Basin Flood Repair project in the final contract amount of $390,219.75.

 

4. Authorize Final Payment in the amount of $5,860.45, and Retainage Payment in the amount of $19,510.99.
