SUBJECT:
Consider motion to adopt RESOLUTION accepting a proposal from All Star Concrete, LLC in the amount of $102,683.72 for the construction of the  2020 SE Shurfine Drive Sidewalk Connection Project.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The action before the Council is the adoption of a Resolution accepting a proposal from All Star Concrete, LLC for the SE Shurfine Drive Sidewalk Connection Project.

 

The SE Shurfine Drive Sidewalk Connection project includes the construction of sidewalk along SE Shurfine Drive from approximately 1000' east of S Ankeny Boulevard to just west of the old railroad grade.

 

Bid invitations were sent to eighteen (18) contractors. Three (3) bids were received for the project as follows:

 

All Star Concrete, LLC           $102,683.72

Howrey Construction, Inc.      $104,928.75

Hawkeye Paving, Corp.         $121,254.00

 

 

The Engineer’s estimated cost for the project was $105,975.00. The bids ranged from 3% below to 14% above the engineer's estimate. All Star Concrete, LLC has completed similar projects for the City of Ankeny in the past and they have the technical experience to complete this project. The Public Works Department recommends awarding the SE Shurfine Drive Sidewalk Connection project to All Star Concrete, LLC of Ankeny, Iowa.
FISCAL IMPACT: No
The SE Shurfine Drive Sidewalk Connection project is included within the Annual Sidewalk/Trail Construction Program of the 2020-2024 CIP with construction scheduled for 2020.
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
Approve the motion to adopt RESOLUTION accepting a proposal from All Star Concrete, LLC for the SE Shurfine Drive Sidewalk Connection Project.
