Postponed PH: Proposed North Ankeny Boulevard and 18th Street Intersection Improvements 
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The project will realign the northbound and southbound medians in US 69/ N Ankeny Boulevard to provide better sightlines for left-turning drivers to see on-coming traffic. The median curb will be repaired and new landscaping areas prepared. On each corner of the intersection, pedestrian pushbuttons and ramps will be reconstructed to meet the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and the traffic signal will be upgraded to modern and low-voltage equipment. Other associated improvements include textured and colored concrete, raised median beds, irrigation conduit, pavement markings, traffic signal modifications, traffic control, minimal earthwork, pavement removals, and site restoration.

The City of Ankeny will furnish the ATC 48VDC traffic signal cabinet with controller, conflict monitor, and accessories, and LED 48VDC signal modules for installation by the Contractor.

Schedule for the proceedings:

1.Set Date for Bid Opening and Public Hearing: February 6, 2023.

2.Postpone Public Hearing: March 6, 2023.

3. Post revised Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public Hearing: February 22, 2023

4. Publish revised Notice to Bidders and Notice of Public of Hearing: March 3, 2023

5.Bid Opening (10:30 A.M., Public Services Building): March 14, 2023

6.Public Hearing and Contract Award:  March 20, 2023

  (Hold Public Hearing on the plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimated total cost; review bids, award contract, and approve contract and bonds.)

FISCAL IMPACT: No
This project is included in the City's current Capital Improvement Program with construction scheduled for 2023. Partial reimbursement funding has been approved by Iowa Department of Transportation's Urban-State Traffic Engineering Program (U-STEP).
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
Cancel the March 6th public hearing and reschedule the public hearing for March 20, 2023 due to an issue with the timing of posting the Notice to Bidders with Master Builders and the Iowa League of Cities.
