The North Four Mile Creek Trunk Sewer project will extend a 30-inch diameter sanitary sewer west/northwest along NE 54th Street to N. Ankeny Blvd, and then it will continue north along N. Ankeny Blvd. for approximately 1000 lineal feet to the end of the project.
The construction improvements include the installation of approximately 2500 lineal feet of 30-inch sanitary sewer with trenched and trenchless methods, 9 - 60-inch manholes, clearing and grubbing, erosion control, surface restoration, and other miscellaneous work necessary to complete the project.
The bid opening for this project was held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023. Two (2) bids were received as follows:
1. J&K Contracting $2,000,000.00
2. Minger Construction Co., Inc. $2,476,642.50
The Engineer's Estimate for the project was $2,524,770.00. The bids ranged from approximately 2% below to 25% below the estimate. The City reviewed the bid results both internally and with the project's engineering consultant. J&K Contracting has completed other projects within the City of Ankeny with the most recent project being the NW 18th Street Project. They have the experience to complete this project.
With Council approval, the late start date is no later than April 17, 2023, and the contractor will have 110 working days to complete the project. It is staff's recommendation to award the project to J&K Contracting. |
