| Consider motion to adopt a RESOLUTION authorizing the execution of a Predesign Agreement For Primary Road Project between the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) and the City of Ankeny, Iowa for the sharing of responsibilities for the proposed South Ankeny Boulevard Improvements Project - SE Peterson Drive to 1st Street. |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: |
The purpose of the project is to reconstruct South Ankeny Boulevard from approximately 300 feet south of SE Peterson Drive to 1st Street. Existing South Ankeny Boulevard in this area is an urban four-lane undivided U.S. Highway. The project proposes to reconstruct South Ankeny Boulevard into a new urban four-lane divided boulevard highway with raised medians along with auxiliary turn lanes at the major intersections. The proposed improvements will improve traffic mobility and safety along the corridor.
In order to facilitate the development of the project, the Iowa DOT has submitted a Predesign Agreement For Primary Road Project which contemplates the Iowa DOT's and City's responsibilities on the project. It is recommended that the City Council approve the agreement at this time, so the project schedule can be maintained. Currently, the project's design phase is scheduled for 2023 and 2024, right-of-way acquisition in 2025 and construction beginning in 2026. |

1. Consider motion to authorize the execution of a Predesign Agreement For Primary Road Project between the Iowa Department of Transportation and the City of Ankeny, Iowa for the proposed South Ankeny Boulevard Improvements Project - SE Peterson Drive to 1st Street. |
