SUBJECT:
Consider motion to reset public hearing on an Amendment of Current City Budget for Fiscal Year July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023 and direct City Clerk to publish notice of such hearing (date of hrg: 06/05/23 @ 5:30 p.m.).
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The FY 2023 budget amendment includes the following changes:

• Amended revenues include increases in hotel/motel taxes, utility franchise taxes and recreation program fees.  
• Amended expenditures include increases related to acquisition of water territory, hotel/motel tax commitments, operation of Prairie Ridge Sports Complex soccer concessions, purchase and replacement of public safety equipment, refunds and vehicle and equipment repairs and maintenance.
FISCAL IMPACT: Yes
Overall, the budget amendment results in no change to the projected ending fund balance at June 30, 2023.
CITY MANAGER'S RECOMMENDATIONS:
Recommend resetting a public hearing on the proposed amendment of current city budget for fiscal year July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL/COMMISSION/BOARD ACTION(S):
The City Council took action on May 1, 2023 to set the public hearing on the proposed amendment of current budget for fiscal year July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023 for May 15, 2023 at 5:30 p.m.  Due to an error by the Des Moines Register the notice of public hearing was not published as required on May 5, 2023.  Because of this error the public hearing needs to be reset for June 5, 2023 at 5:30 p.m.
PUBLIC OUTREACH EFFORTS:
Notice of public hearing will be published in the Des Moines Register on May 19, 2023.
