The action before the Council is the adoption of a Resolution accepting a proposal from HMG Land Management for the 2024 Native Vegetation Maintenance project.

The 2024 Native Vegetation Maintenance project includes maintenance trips to 22 locations within the City of Ankeny. The maintenance trips will include but are not limited to, providing all equipment, labor, and materials to spot mow and/or apply spot herbicide treatments at the determination of the City and Contractor prior to each trip. 
 
The project locations are all located on public property or Right-of-Way. The project includes temporary traffic control as needed, mobilization, and miscellaneous associated work necessary to complete the project. 

Bid invitations were sent to twenty-seven (27) contractors. Two (2) bids were received for the project as follows:

HMG Land Management                                           $55,350.00

Absolute Group $233,650.00

The Engineer's Estimate was $53,300.00. The bids ranged from 4% above the engineer's estimate to 438% above the engineer's estimate. HMG Land Management has completed similar projects for the City of Ankeny in the past and they have the technical experience to complete this project. The Public Works Department recommends awarding the 2024 Native Vegetation Maintenance project to HMG Land Management of Promise City, Iowa.
